Gemini

I recently found that my ascendant is Gemini (born 6/10/59 at 6:29 AM in

Wash. DC). This disturbs me. An astrologer once told me that it might be

Sagittarius when I could not tell him my time of birth. I loved thinking of

myself as Sag - it seemed to lend so much more depth to my Gemini sun.

Now that I know my time of birth, I'm worried that I just deluded myself

about my own depth/substance. The characteristics of Gemini seem to be so

flighty, noncommittal and surfacely intelligent. Is there hope that I could be

as wise, substantively learned and mature as I want to be?

The astrologer in question was probably accurately assessing your extraverted enthusiasm as indicating a possible Sagittarian Ascendant.

Well, the bad news is that there just isn't much in the way of Sagittarian energy blessing your birthchart. You'll just have to make due with the Pluto transit we're all experiencing.

The good news is that your concept of a one-sided interpretation of Gemini is certainly due for a fresh perspective. Remember that each sign has it's own double nature. I'm not going to emphasize the darker elements of Sagittarius just to make you feel better. Let's just say that you don't have to play Santa Claus for the rest of your life. You can leave that up to the better qualified Sag. characters. (Although if you want to get technical...a 6th House Jupiter in Scorpio could have you role playing both sides of a B&D scenario for a reasonable living.)

Your real job, astrologically speaking, is to be a KID...which doesn't mean be IMMATURE. In fact, a 12th House Sun in any sign will guarantee you an experience of depth and substance whether you want it or not. You have a great capacity for taking your kid energy, intuition and Leo enthusiasm and creating an extremely powerful kind of Serenity. I see your Libra Dragon's Head as being an indication that your destiny involves the creation of JOY for yourself and for others. Learning precisely what Joy really is will be a maturing process. It also involves the kind of wisdom that knows what's intuitively "Right" as opposed to what everyone else tells you that joy should be.

I'd like to spend more time helping you with the symbolism. It's really wonderful stuff, but my Gemini Ascendant has to move on. I can only do so much of the Santa Claus thing without giving away the store.
